I arrived in Taiwan a few days ago. As a newcomer in a country, you are always eager to explore the sightseeing spots and hidden eateries as well. Traveling is about having an experience in a foreign country where culture and environment may vary drastically.
Exploring a country on another level can also be interesting. Going to ruins or abandoned place can give you some hint about the past history.
I’m currently in Kenting national park , the southest part of Taïwan. Today I have rent a scooter which is the best way to spot “Ruins”. After a gentle cruise around I finally came nose to nose with what seems to be an old complex of buildings. Located on a top of hill … what is this place about ?
Scooter adventure.
This is our exploration spot for the afternoon. The sun was hitting strong , I needed to get inside quickly.
Kenting area doesn’t have any industry or such things as it is a national park. People will come here mostly for holidays and sea life. As a result many cool cafés / restaurants and hotels can be found here. I wouldn’t be surprised to find an old hotel here.
Nobody around , this should be easy to step inside.

The entrance of our Urbex spot. This is probably an Hotel. The location was really suited for an hotel. You can imagine Taiwanese people going on holiday here. Having a break from life.
Reception room.

Chinese restaurant. This is the way to the biggest room of the hotel.
The Chinese restaurant , out of service for a little while now.

This is the menu which isn’t cheap. This hotel was probably a place for the wealthies. I would like to be able to read Taiwanese to see what is on the menu.

A door to the outside.
Outside view. You can spot two ballons in the background. I saw military people in front of this area. I wonder what do they observe with theses ballons. Stars or sky ?
Let’s check the other room now.

Cool oval windows. It reminded me of Kubrick’s film aesthetic for some reason.
A free room , anyone ? There is nothing left here.
Kitchen area.

Having fun with the mirrors.
I can’t say why or when this hotel closed. It seems like it has been abandoned for at least 15 years by judging the state of decomposition in the different rooms. It was probably a nice spot for people to unwind during their holidays. I’m still curious why this place actually closed. Was it not enough guests and therefore the business was getting low ? Did something happened to the owners ? Any fantasy is possible to imagine in our mind’s. The mystery will remain. Time to say goodbye to this hotel.
